Bitter The Parting by John Doyle

                             Bitter The Parting

Tuning:D A D G A D
Key:Cm
Capo:no capo

Not sure how John does it but I'm tuned down from DADGAD a whole step to CBCFBC
to play in C.
The C is a minor or minor sounding mode (I'm using a C5). Might be easier to
just either play in D
or to tune down but transpose +2 for D shapes while still playing in C.
The chords I'm using are as such:

C(C5) Bb Fm Gm Ab Eb
C---0--------------0----0-----0-----0-----
B---0--------3-----0----0-----0-----0-----
F---2--------0-----3----5-----7-----2-----
C---0--------2-----0----0-----0-----0-----
B---5--------3-----5----7-----8-----3-----
C---0--------------5----7-----8-----3-----

[Intro]

[Verse 1]
       C Bb Fm Gm
With a red rose in summer, the leaves soft and green
    C Bb Fm Gm
You walked without speaking, your arm held in mine
        Ab Eb Gm
And the lon dubh was singing as we passed on by
    C Eb Bb Gm C
And bitter the parting of lovers entwined

[Verse 2]
    C Bb Fm Gm
You said that you loved me, you said that you cared
    C Bb Fm Gm
You told me you would never go and leave me behind
    Ab Eb Gm
The one that I love has altered his mind
    C Eb Bb Gm C
And bitter the parting of lovers entwined

[Verse 3]
C Bb Fm Gm
I have to leave now this place I adored
   C Bb Fm Gm
No more can I wander the wild glens and shores
        Ab Eb Gm
For the tyrants have robbed me of house, lands, and pride
         C Eb Bb Gm C
And it's bitter the parting of lovers entwined

[Instrumantal] - play chords from verses

[Verse 4]
    C Bb Fm Gm
The dew from the morning still hung from the leaves
    C Bb Fm Gm
The dogs they were barking from over the fields
     Ab Eb Gm
When you sighed and I cried for what we had done
         C Eb Bb Gm Fm
And it's bitter the parting of the wounded in love

[Verse 5]
      C Bb Fm Gm
So we kissed and we parted and from her I did steer
 C Bb Fm Gm
I sat by the river and watched it flow by
     Ab Eb Gm
Like time in a bottle, it weaves and it glides
    C Eb Bb Gm C
And bitter the parting of lovers entwined
