The majority of the song is just using left-handed muting techniques
 
To play the song the way it’s written, I mute the high E string with my palm for the whole song.
When I play the Dmaj7(sus2), I fret the 10th fret with the tip of my middle finger and mute the A string
with the pad of my finger, and I do the same thing with my index finger when I play the F#m chord that comes
after it.
 
The strumming pattern is down-up-down-up-down-up-down-up for the whole first half of the song
For the bridge, the strumming pattern is up-down-up-down
For the “breakdown”, the strumming pattern is like the first half, but there is a little bit of right-handed
muting going on to fit the half-time rhythm.
