Digital Sea by Thrice

                    Digital Sea

Intro:

Am Em
Am Em

[Verse 1]
  Em Am
I woke, cold and alone

Adrift in an open sea

Caught up in regrets
 Em Am
And tangled in nets

Instead of your arms wrapped around me
     Em Am
And I wept, but my tears are anathema here

Just more water to fill my lungs
             Em Am
I hear someone scream

"Oh God what is it that I've done?"

[Chorus]
         C Em
I am drowning in a digital sea
          C Em
I am slipping beneath the sound
         C Em
Here my voice goes to ones and zeros
        C Am
I'm slipping beneath the sound

[Interlude]

[Verse 2]
       Em Am
A song from somewhere below

Deadly and slow begins
       Em Am
Both sickly and sweet

Now picking up speed

Ushering in the world's end
       Em Am
And the ghost of Descartes screams again in the dark

"Oh how could I have been so wrong?"
           Em Am
But above the screams the sirens still sing their song

[Chorus]
         C Em
I am drowning in a digital sea
          C Em
I am slipping beneath the sound
         C Em
Here my voice goes to ones and zeros
        C Am
I'm slipping beneath the sound

    Em
Here my voice goes to ones and zeros

1st Verse

I woke, cold and alone, adrift in the open sea
Caught up in regret, and tangled in nets
Instead of your arms wrapped around me
And I wept, but my tears are anathema here, just more water to fill my lungs
I hear someone scream ‘God what is it we have done?™

Chorus:
     C Em
I am drowning in a digital sea
     C Em
I am slipping beneath the sound
        C Em
Here my voice goes to ones and zeros
    C Am
I™m slipping beneath the sound

2nd Verse
A song somewhere below deadly and slow begins
Sickly and sweet, now picking up speed, and ushering in the world’s end
And the ghost of Descartes screams again in the dark
‘Oh how could I have been so wrong?™
But above the screams still the sirens sing their song

Chorus

A couple of notes:

I would guess that a healthy dose of chorus and a nice, thick bridge sound would be best
get a tone similar to the actual recording. Whatever you decide to use (it could be
a lot of ways), just be sure to let everything ring as much as possible. You want lots
long, mellow notes for this one.

Guitar 1, Chorus - The argument could be made that those chords are unnecessarily
I liked the sound and thought the open B helped differentiate the C from the modified E chord
keeping the B note in all of the chords gave the progression a sort of tie to perpetuate
floaty sound they get with the keyboards on the album.

Guitar 2, Chorus - I only put down a few of the expressions used by the "lead" in the
here. In reality, you'll want to play around with that bit to give it, again, a floaty
Just go easy on the attack (I've found that I can often give this a better tone by
without a pick) and lay on the legato.
