The song then has an bit (which is pretty similar to the verse). Personally I just play bars 2-8 of the intro plough straight into the 4th verse… Play right through the verse section as before, doing the 4th and 5th verses, then end the 5th verse finish as you did with the 3rd verse. I wonder what is keeping my true love this night I wonder what is keeping him out of my sight I wonder if he knows of the pain I endure And stays from me this night I'm not sure Oh love are you coming your cause to advance Or yet are you waiting for a far far better chance Are you coming for to tell me you've a new love in store Or are you coming for to tell me you love me no more For I can love lightly and I can love strong I can love the old love till the new love comes on I only said I loved you for to give your heart ease And when I'm not with you I'll love whom I please There's gold in my pocket and pain in my heart For I can't love a man with too many sweethearts You're my first and only false love but it's lately I knew That the stronger I loved you the falser you grew The spring grass grows the greenest and spring water runs clear I'm sorry and tormented for the love of my dear Your love it lies so lightly as the dew on the thorn That's there in the evening and away with the dawn ------------------ version 2 Tuning: E A D G B E Capo: 3rd fret INTRO: G C D (4x) G C G I wonder what is keeping my true love this night Em D G D I wonder what is keeping him out of my sight Em D G D I wonder if he knows of the pain I endure G C G And stays from me this night, I'm not sure D G C G Oh, love are you coming, your cause to advance Em D G D Or yet, are you waiting for a far, far better chance Em D G D Are you coming for to tell me, you've a new love in store G C G D G D Or are you coming for to tell me, you love me no more G C G For I can love lightly and I can love strong Em D G D I can love the old love, 'til the new love comes on Em D G D I only said I loved you, for to give your heart ease G C G D G D For when I'm not with you, I'll love whom I please INSTRUMENTAL: (same as verse) D G C G Oh, there's gold in my pocket and pain in my heart Em D G D I can't love a man with too many sweethearts Em D G D You're my first and only false love, but it's lately I knew G C G The stronger I loved you, the falser you grew D G C G Oh, the spring grass grows the greenest, oh, and spring water runs clear Em D G D I'm sorry and tormented for the love of my dear Em D G D Your love it lies so lightly, as the dew on the thorn G C G D That's there in the evening and away with the dawn G C G D That's there in the evening and away with the dawn OUTRO: G D G D G D G D ----------------
