Taking The Wheel by Joshua Burnside & Laura Quirke

                        Taking The Wheel

Tuning:E A D G B E
Capo:4th fret

[Chords]

    G A11
D|--3-----5----|
B|--3-----5----|
G|--0-----0----|
D|--0-----0----|
A|--2-----4----|
E|--3-----5----|

These two chords are played back and forth throughout the entire song, playing
 the strumming pattern twice
before switching chords. The only extra bit to learn is the hammer on that you
 play on the second go
through of each chord.

If you listen or watch Laura play you should be able to figure it out pretty
easily but heres an example:
The arrows show the direction to strum.

First go around without hammer on:
    ↓ ↓ ↑ ↑ ↓ ↑

    G G G G G G
D|--3---3--3----3--3--3
B|--3---3--3----3--3--3
G|--0---0--0----0--0--0
D|--0---0--0----0--0--0
A|--2---2--2----2--2--2
E|--3---3--3----3--3--3

Second go around with hammer on:
    ↓ ↓ ↑ ↓ ↑

    G G G G G G
D|--3---3--3----3--3--3
B|--3---3--3----3--3--3
G|--0---0--0----0--0--0
D|--0---0--0----0--0--0
A|--0---0-h2----2--2--2
E|--3---3--3----3--3--3

This is the exact same pattern for the A11 chord (G moved up 2 frets). I also
think she just hammers on
without an upward strum but you can also just keep to the basic pattern and
strum up.

[Intro]
G A11 x4

[Verse 1]
G
Sarah sits in the passenger seat and
A11
Ponders the thought of taking the wheel,
G
Being more than indulged or humoured navigation,
A11
The comfort of feeling as though she's directing.

[Chorus]
G
Gesturing left and gesturing right,
     A11
Turn around down here,
                            G
Pull in at the side of the road.
                              A11
There's something you need to know.

[Verse 2]
G
The two of them there sitting side by side,
A11
David driving and Sarah beside.
G
The splashing rain on the window screen,
A11
The straining drain of nature's spleen.

[Chorus]
G
Gesturing left and gesturing right,
     A11
Turn around down here,
                            G
Pull in at the side of the road.
                              A11
There's something you need to know.

[Verse 3]
G
David dares his eyes to glance over,
A11
But can already feel the heat rising off her.
G
Condensation closing in,
A11
Makes it hard to see the road in front of him.

[Chorus]
G
Gesturing left and gesturing right,
     A11
Turn around down here,
                            G
Pull in at the side of the road.
                              A11
There's something you need to know.

[Bridge]
G A11
Aaaaaaahhh
G A11
Aaaaahhhhh
G A11
AAAAaaahh
G A11
Ah Ahhhhh

[Verse 4]
G
Saved by the radio once again,
A11
A song comes on to take them out of there skin,
G
And in love now as they listen to words,
A11
That others have sung so that they don't have to.

[Chorus]
G
Gesturing left and gesturing right,
    A11
The hum of the engine, a hum womb-like.
G
Daring feet upon the dashboard speak,
  A11 G A11 G
A sweet desire for more, ...rotting away from the core.

A11

[Bridge]
G A11
Aaaaaaahhh
G A11
Aaaaahhhhh
G A11
AAAAaaahh
G A11
Ah Ahhhhh

[Verse 5]
G
David resigns to indicate,
A11
And the engine cuts at the edge of a lake.
G
The song is reaching its final refrain,
A11
Their only wish is for it to remain.

[Bridge]
G
A11 G
...Playing again and again

A11

[Chorus]
G
Gesturing left and gesturing right,
     A11
Turn around down here,
                            G
Pull in at the side of the road.
                              A11
There's something you need to know.

G
Gesturing left and gesturing right,
     A11
Turn around down here,
                            G
Pull in at the side of the road.
                              A11
There's something you need to know.

G
Gesturing left and gesturing right,
     A11
Turn around down here,
                            G
Pull in at the side of the road.
                              A11
There's something you need to know.
