Now Rome buys into his partner's deal

Both was'a ridin' for the chicken coop

With a red hot iron and a hungry loop

The sun was a'shinin'  in old Jake's eyes

And he weren't expectin'  no big surprise

When the steer gave a shimmie like his dress was tight

He bust through a juniper  and dropped from sight

Now Jake's old pony does a figure 8

Jake does his addin' just a might too late

Then he flies from his saddle just a'seein'  red

So he humps and he heads through the cavvy yard

And leaves Rome a'sittin' where the ground was hard

And Rome hollers back  ya' better get from here

Or wind up tangled with the bald-face steer

And Rome climbs a straddle of a juniper tree

There ain't no more room up here says he

But Jake he figures his'self  to save

Backin'  in the mouth of a cut-bank cave

The steer come'a  chargin' with his head way down

A rollin' his his eyes an'a  paw'n  the ground

A hook'n  an'a  snortin'  an'a  tearin'  all about

But every time he quit  old Jake backs out  (hmmm, what in the cat hair is he up 
to?)
