Obvs by Jamie XX Obvs Tuning:E A D G B E Key:Db Capo:no capo [Instrumental] Listen for rhythm, but it helps to know that the kick hits on the last note of each arpeggio in the intro. (so you should be hitting the d string in time with the kick). [Chords] This progression is repeated through the entirety of the song. Even though there are only two chords, it sounds better if you play it with different voicings to give the feeling of going up. Db Fm Db[2] Fm[2] e| 1 1 4 8 B| 2 1 6 9 G| 1 1 6 10 D| 3 3 6 10 A| 4 3 4 8 E| x 1 x x [Intro] Note: The only difference between the intro and the section 1 part is that the first arpeggio is played once more in section 1 to fit the beat. The intro still sounds right since the drums don't kick in until the verse. Having said that, I don't know if it's just the version I have or if Jamie actually intended it. e|--9-------9-------9-------9-------8-------8-------8---------------------------- B|---9-------9-------9-------9-------9-------9-------9-------9--------9--------9- G|----10------10------10------10------10------10------10------10-------10-------1 D|------11------11------11-----10------10-------10-----10-------10-8-----10-8---- A|------------------------------------------------------------------------------- E|------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------| -------9--------| 0-------10------| -10-8-----10-8--| ----------------| ----------------| e|-----------------------------------------| B|-11--------11-------11--------11---------| G|---10-------10--------10--------10-------| D|-----10-------10--------10--------10-----| A|-------11-------11--------11--------11---| E|-----------------------------------------| [Section 1] starts at 00:11 e|--9-------9-------9-------9-------9-------8-------8-------8-------------------- B|---9-------9-------9-------9-------9-------9-------9-------9-------9--------9-- G|----10------10------10------10------10------10------10------10------10-------10 D|------11------11------11------11-----10------10-------10-----10-------10-8----- A|------------------------------------------------------------------------------- E|------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------| ------9--------9--------| -------10-------10------| 10-8-----10-8-----10-8--| ------------------------| ------------------------| e|-----------------------------------------| B|-11--------11-------11--------11---------| G|---10-------10--------10--------10-------| D|-----10-------10--------10--------10-----| A|-------11-------11--------11--------11---| E|-----------------------------------------| [Bassline] There are a heap of variations on the basslines throughout the song. Here are the ones I could identify that are playable on a standard guitar/bass. If you had to play it exactly like the original you'd need to some hectic low strings since he goes into really low octaves. Either way you should mix it up because I'm almost certain that the bass is actually never repeated. Every bar is ever so slightly different.... You can achieve a similar thing on guitar by playing the following chords.
