Dead Alive by Kurt Vile

                                    Dead Alive

**TUNING**
low to high

G-G-D-G-B-D

tune the high E down a whole step to D. tune the low E up 1 1/2 steps to G. tune the A
string down a whole step to G. pretty sure the tuning is correct, took me some time to
get it.

also CAPO IS AT THE 5TH FRET - the chord positions for this tab are relative to the capo

mostly emphasize hitting the A string and high E

verse - not sure how this goes exactly, i alternate between the picking patterns i have
here. this is picked as long as it takes to sing "you're telling me a good man is hard
to find well.. what are you.."

E--4--------------------4----------------------4------------------------4------------------|
B---------0----------------------0-----------------------------0-----------------------0---|
G--------------2----------------------2-------------------2----------------------2---------|
D------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A-------0----------0----------0-----------0----------0-----------0---------0------------0--|
E--0---------------------0----------------------0-----------------------0------------------|

"blind" for this part he picks it very strange and very fast
E-7---2---|
B-7---2---|
G-7---2---|
D-7---2---|
A-7---2---|
E-7---2---|

E------------0------------------0---------------------------------|
B---------------------------------------------------0-------------|
G--2/4--------------4---------------------2/4---------------------|
D-----------------------------------------------------------------|
A---------0---------------0-----------0------------------0--------|
E--0--------------0-------------0---------------0-----------------|

i won't explain this picking because it's basically all the same and i'm not exactly
sure how it goes, he alternates between which strings he hits so listen closely
"well nevermind lets try and have a good.."
E--2--
B--2--
G--2--
D--2--
A--2--
E--2--

"time"

"war of independence..

B-4--
G-4--

"man's a hindrance well you know you got a right to.."

D-2--
A-2--
E-2--

"go.."

"better take a breather.."
E--7p4-------------------7p4-------------------7p4----------------------7p4-----------------|
B----------4----------------------4----------------------4-----------------------4----------|
G--------------4----------------------4------------------------4----------------------4-----|

"stop sweating..."

B---------------------0-----------------------------0-------------|
G------------2/4--------------------------2/4---------------------|
D-----------------------------------------------------------------|
A---------0---------------0-----------0------------------0--------|
E--0--------------0------------0---------------0------------------|

that part goes twice then it goes to this chord picked the same (as shown below)

E-2--
B-2--
G-2--
D-2--
A-2--
E-2--

then just pick openly the same pattern like so:
E--0---------------------0----------------------0----------------------------|
B---------0----------------------0-----------------------0-------------------|
G--------------0----------------------0-----------------------0--------------|
D----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A-------0----------0----------0-----------0----------0-----------0-----------|
E--0---------------------0----------------------0----------------------------|

from here you go right back into the song again and it's played through pretty much the
same, however the second time around it goes into this part

E--7--------------------8----------------------9-----------------------7--------4--------------|
B----------7----------------------X----------------------X-------------4--------4-----4--------|
G--------------7----------------------X------------------------X----------------------------4--|
D----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|

You telling me a good man is hard to find
Well, what are you blind?
Well, never mind, let's try and have a good time
There was a war of independence
If a man's a hindrance
Well, you know where you got a right to go
Better take a breather 'til you're better, 'til you're better, 'til you stop sweating
Better take a breather 'til you stop sweating and knit me a sweater

You telling me a good man is hard to find
What was that? You better rewind
Cause it's me, mama, I'm showing everybody a good time
You're always looking for a few good men
Well, here's one
Baby, won't get wasted on a gun
Better take a breather 'til you're better, 'til you're better, 'til you stop sweating
Better take a breather 'til you stop sweating and knit me a sweater

Call me old dog when I'm gone, but when I'm back, it's always
Old man, where you been so long, where you been so long, where you been so long?
And then since then, it's just well, all right, A-OK, and always
Old man, where you been so long, where you been so long?
In a world that gets me high, I'm tied up and all the time, it's always
Old man, where's your mind at, where's your mind at?
Until I, I come undone, I'm deaf and dumb, I'm rolling drums, I'm dead alive
