Oddlife by King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard Oddlife Tuning: E A D G B E Off the brand new microtonal album K.G., this song is written to be played on microtonal instruments. I tabbed this out on a microtonal guitar, fretted identically to the way Gizz fret their guitars (24 TET). This means there will be microtonal notes in this tab which will be written in brackets e.g. (X.5). For example, the fret halfway between the first and second frets would be written as (1.5) on the tab. I used the Flying Microtonal Banana tuning as I assume they used it again. It is: C#, F#, C#, F#, B, e. A lot of the song doesn't have any guitar in it so for those parts I tabbed out other instruments or the vocal melody. [Intro] This is played on a keyboard or synth of some description and so it's not really meant to be played on guitar. To my ear, the guitar doesn't come in to much later in the song but I tabbed out the keyboard part so you have something to play during this. I also tabbed out the synth fill that plays just before the verse. Keyboard Part: e |-0-2-(3.5)-(3.5)-2h(3.5)/5-----2h(3.5)/5---7-----------9-------9-------9-------(10.5)-------12-------12-| B |-------------------------------------------------10h12---10h12---10h12---10h12--------10h12----10h12----| F#|--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| C#|--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| F#|--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| C#|--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| e |-------14-----12h14-(15.5)-12h14-(15.5)-----12h14-17-12h14-17-----19-----19-----19-| B |-10h12-----------------------------------------------------------------------------| F#|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------| C#|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------| F#|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------| C#|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------| Synth Fill: Use a fuzz to get that square wave kinda sound. The keyboard part is played at an octave above what accessable on a guitar so I didn't tab that out. So here's the vocal melody instead. e |------------------------------------------------------------| B |-7------------------------------------------0-0-0-0-0---0-2-| F#|---7-(8.5)-10-(8.5)-7-5-7--0--0-----0h(1.5)-----------------| x2 C#|------------------------------------------------------------| F#|------------------------------------------------------------| C#|------------------------------------------------------------| [Pre-Chorus] Much the same story here, no guitar, all melodies played on other instruments. So again, I tabbed out the vocal melody to play along to what Stu is singing. "Sugar Plum Fairy dances now..." e |---------------------------------------| B |-0-0-0---------------------------------| F#|---------3-3-3---(1.5)-(1.5)-(1.5)---0-| x8 C#|---------------------------------------| F#|---------------------------------------| C#|---------------------------------------| [Chorus] Finally an actual guitar part! This just follows the vocal melody so its nice and easy. The open notes are often picked multiple times. The number of 0s is not exact so just listen to it a few times and figure how long to hold each note for. I've broken it up into the individual riffs that repeat just to make it easier to follow. e |-0h2p0-------0--------------------------------------------------| B |-------(3.5)---2---2-2-0---0------------------------------------| F#|-------------------------3---3-(1.5)tr2-0-0-0-0-(1.5)p0---0-0-0-| x3 C#|--------------------------------------------------------3-------| F#|----------------------------------------------------------------| C#|----------------------------------------------------------------| e |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| B |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| F#|---0-0-(1.5)-0-0-0--------------0---0-0-(1.5)-0-0-0--------------0-(1.5)-0-| C#|-3-----------------3-(1.5)tr2-3---3-----------------3-(1.5)tr2-3-----------| F#|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| C#|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| e |---------------------------| B |---7-7-7--7-5--(3.5)tr5--2-| F#|-0-------------------------| x2 C#|---------------------------| F#|---------------------------| C#|---------------------------| e |-2-(3.5)-0-2-------0---------------------------| B |-------------(3.5)---2-(3.5)-0-2---0-----------| F#|---------------------------------3---(1.5)-3-0-| x4 C#|-----------------------------------------------| F#|-----------------------------------------------| C#|-----------------------------------------------| e |-----------| B |-----------| F#|-(1.5)-3-0-| x4 C#|-----------| F#|-----------| C#|-----------| e |-------| B |-------| F#|-3-5-0-| x4 C#|-------| F#|-------| C#|-------| e |-----------| B |-----------| F#|-7-(8.5)-0-| x4 C#|-----------| F#|-----------| C#|-----------| e |------------| B |------------| F#|-(8.5)-10-0-| x2 C#|------------| F#|------------| C#|------------| e |-------| B |-------| F#|-10h12-| x4 C#|-------| F#|-------| C#|-------| e |--------------------------| \ B |--------------------------| | F#|-12---12-12-(13.5)-(13.5)-| x3 | C#|--------------------------| | F#|--------------------------| | C#|--------------------------| | x3 | e |-------------------| | B |-------------------| | F#|-15---15-12-(13.5)-| | C#|-------------------| | F#|-------------------| | C#|-------------------| / e |----| B |----| F#|-12-| C#|----| F#|----| C#|----| [Verse 2] e |------------------------------------------------------------| B |-7------------------------------------------0-0-0-0-0---0-2-| F#|---7-(8.5)-10-(8.5)-7-5-7--0--0-----0h(1.5)-----------------| x2 C#|------------------------------------------------------------| F#|------------------------------------------------------------| C#|------------------------------------------------------------| [Pre-Chorus] e |---------------------------------------| B |-0-0-0---------------------------------| F#|---------3-3-3---(1.5)-(1.5)-(1.5)---0-| x8 C#|---------------------------------------| F#|---------------------------------------| C#|---------------------------------------| [Chorus] e |-----------------------------------------------------------------| B |-----------------------------------------------------------------| F#|-------------------------------0---------------------------------| C#|-3---(1.5)---0-----3---(1.5)---------3---(1.5)-------------------| F#|-------------------------------------------------5-----3---(1.5)-| C#|-----------------------------------------------------------------| [Bridge] e |--------------------------------------| B |--------------------------------------| F#|--------------------------------------| x?
