You can use the same pattern for the chorus, just play an Em {022000} instead of E7sus4

For the last two lines of the chours, you can repeat the intro riff once through.

Going in to the third verse, there's a muted 8th note downward strumming pattern on the [+3+4], but it sounds
better to just keep plucking the chords as in the other verses.

version 5

Capo: 6th fret

The base notes pairs are strummed. For the D chord you should think 'C chord two frets up the neck'.
Don't try to finger the full Em, just what is needed. You'll need your pinky for the hammer-on, etc. You
have to get the pacing/rythme by repeated listening to the recording.

The embellishments in the second version are not found in the 2x of the intro, but they are there in some
online recordings at some point during the song. There are lots of things that can be done including
hammering on the B string notes on the Am and D chords. I think I hear that at some point too.

And I'm still picking out my shoes
I'm never late to the party
If I'm late to the party with you
By the time we get there
Everybody will be drunk
The chairs will be on tables
And the band will be unplugged
We're gonna look real good
But we're gonna look real rude
I'm sorry I'm not sorry that I'm...
Late to the party with you
Oh, who needs confetti?
We're already falling into the groove
And who needs a crowd
When you're happy at a party for two?
The world can wait
'Cause I'm never late to the party
If I'm late to the party with you
Let's promise when we get in
That we'll try to get right out
Fake a couple conversations
Make the necessary rounds
These kinda things just turn into
Who's leaving here with who?
But I just want 'em all to see me come in...
Late to the party with you
Oh, who needs confetti?
We're already falling into the groove

Late to the party with you

And who needs a crowd
