Town Blacksmith by Lake Fork Verne Town Blacksmith Banjo adgbd (G tuning 5th spiked to A at 7th fret) Medium speed Key D D E My home town had a blacksmith named Henry Bosler A D He was the one on whom all the farmers depend E Mr Bosler would make their plow shares sharper A D So they could go back and plow their fields again G D He had a little shed on the far side of town E A Where they would come and form a long line D E If the didnt get there real early A D They would lose a day of plowing time D E Some of the big farmers got real edgy A D And wanted to move up and get out of line E But Henry would stare at them with his heavy hammer A D They would grumble, but get back in line G D Henry Bosler was the village blacksmith E A And the only one for miles a- round D E At times, he could be real inde- pendent A D D7 Make him self scarce, not to be found G D Everyone finally knew he was needed E A And they made a point to thank him every day D E Then Henry came down with a sickness A D And they used a black wagon to haul him away D E Now the town is very sorry A D That they had treated him that way E They took up a big collection A D And sent it to his sister far, far away D E I know the town did not prosper A D Without Mr. Bosler there every day E Some say it was his way of gettin even A D And that he and his sister are spending that collection today. ------------
