Bounce the jar back and forth.

Back and forth, keep on rockin

For a half an hour or so

Yellow streaks show thru the white cream

Keep bouncing it, singing as you go

Suddenly, the cream gets real thick,

A big blob of butter to be- hold

Pour away the butter milkthats the trick

Pat the butter on a flat wood mold

Push and shape it into its mould- seat

Force water and milk from the butter pad

Oh how fresh!...how very sweet

Best butter you have ever had

Now there were churns with cranks and wooden paddles

But the simple glass jar, shaked on your knees

Made butter faster than you could skid-daddle
