Most Beautiful Song by Martin Gallop

                            Most Beautiful Song

I play the chords as follows because I think it sounds best that way G 320033, C x32033, Em7 022033, D standard or D9. The strumming pattern is a simple waltz 3/4 time. You play just 3 downbeats. On the first downbeat just play the bass string. For the chorus I use an a little more elaborated but nonetheless standard 3/4 time pattern.

Tuning: E A D G B E

Capo: 4th fret

Key: G

Capo IV
[Verse]
G
I had a dream last night
   D G
A beautiful dream ‘bout you
       G
Then I fell out of bed
       G
With a song in my head
D G
Ringing so sweet and true

[Pre-Chorus]
        C G
But the fool that I was failed to write it right down
       D Em7 C
Which I now sincerely repent
G
Cause by the time lunch time came around
        D G
I’d completely forgot how it went

[Chorus]
  C D Em7 C
I swear somewhere in the ether out there
G D Em7 C
There’s the most beautiful song for you
      G D Em7 C
But until that refrain returns to my brain
G D C
This one will have to do
G D G
This one’s gonna have to do

[Verse]
G
How will you ever know
     D G
Just how much I love you
       G
When I have to resort
   G
To words that fall short
    D G
And rarely,rarely ring true

[Pre-Chorus]
        C G
But the fool that I was failed to try anyway
       D Em7 C
Which I also sincerely repent
          G
Since you started to cry
       G
Packed up said goodbye
         D G
Called a taxi and off you went

[Chorus]
  C D Em7 C
I swear somewhere in the ether out there
G D Em7 C
There’s the most beautiful song for you
      G D Em7 C
But until that refrain returns to my brain
G D C
This one will have to do
G D G
Darling this one will have to do

[Verse]
G
Things are seldom quite what
D G
They’re all cracked up to be
        G
And it sure always seems
         G
That the songs in my dreams
      D G
Sound so much sweeter to me

[Pre-Chorus]
        C G
But nonetheless I will now do my best
     D Em7 C
To knock off a tune and a rhyme
       G
But perhaps a short nap
      G
Will best help me tap
   D G
Into my subconscious mind
