Cm
The writing is on the wall
G#m
  But no cares at all
A#
  To convey the message
D#
  that we wrote ourselves
G#m
  Destroy the walls we mend
Fm
  And burn the candle
A#
  At both ends

- Chorus:

                    G#m
 (I really think we are)
                                D#
Becoming more mindless of the heart
                         A#
 (Becoming everything we hate)
                                 Cm
Building our castles for the future
                             G#m
(A trojan horse is at the gate)
                               Gm
Built by the enemy that we made

- Verse 2:

Cm
  It's false sincerity
G#m
  we hear celebrities
A#
"Buy a hybrid if you can"
      D#
With ten years of your food stamps
G#m
  Caught myself listening to
Fm A#
  Sheltered excuses for human beings

They separate then what have we got?
D#
(Nothing in common with their wealth)
A# Cm
One clip can change public opinion
                                    G#m
(One sin can send you straight to hell)
                                   Gm
Learned how to lie and not get caught
Gm
More piss in the melting pot

- Chorus 3:

G#m D#
  Shut out majority with riches
                             A#
 (Their words become more valuable)
                                         Cm
Then the voice of a million starving children
                                    G#m
(That they have a million ways to solve)
                                Gm
Left freedom bleeding on the roadside

  We believe the biggest lie

- Verse 1:

     A E/G#
She met me at the airport with my little baby girls

I mumbled something slurry like I would as if I'd been around the world
         E A E
Or just had one too many drinks
    A E/G#
I think I slept on the way home and gave them all a kiss

            A E/G# F#m
I feel I'm somewhere that belongs to us
           D
And in the end when you kiss me

I know that it's more than just trust

I feel like such a selfish prick at times like this I guess that I can be
         E A E
What can I say, I'm sorry?

- Chorus:

     D E
It's all the same when I get back home
            A E/G# F#m

9. Feel Good Song of the Year - Old Man Markley

- Intro: Am Am F F C C G G
         Am Am F F C C G E

- Verse 1:

                    Am
I never thought the day would come when I
                    F
Would be the poison in the pen I use to write
     C G E/G#
You said you were alone in somewhat of a nervous tone
                    F Am G
I guess it was the blank look on your face that was easy to replace

- Chorus:

   C G E/G#
So then I went and drank myself into an idiot all through the night
                   Am G F G Am E
Recounting all my paranoid and selfish thoughts but I was right

- Verse 2:

                   Am
I made a space for you inside my soul
                    F
And let my feelings kill the part that I control
    C G E/G#
So part of you was me, neglectful maybe cold it seemed
                    F
Despite having the wounds we both imbibe, the scars are
Am G
Somewhere we can't hide

- Chorus:

   C G E/G#
I then stayed up for two more years just thinking of the sacrifice you made
                    Am G F G
Indifferent to the reason so apparent in the pain
   C G E/G#
I polished off another drink and taught myself to numb and drift away
               Am G Am E
For one more night so I could justify the day

- Bridge:

   F G E/G# Am
So now I entertain the thought of going on all alone
     D G F
But you are all the life I've ever known

I swear one day I'll get it back something that is already dead and gone
                  Am G F
Again i see the trumpet player looking for his song
   C G E/G#
Don't worry I won't follow you, that part of me is learning to let got
               Am G Am E
What was a space is like a cancer in my soul

When "how you live, is how you die"

- Verse 2:

Looks like your soul is connected to a wall
   E B D#m
A photograph stands by the bed
G#m D#m F# C#
Of better times, when we crubled with our spine

            G#m D#m
Ignored the line that didn't skip
              B F# G#m F#
It seemed the blue suburban sky
          C# E
turned to gray, polluted night
B F#
So now you sleep inside a space
          G#m D#m
A bed of roses, the torns replaced
B F# G#m F#
No more sleepless nights

just for me , But as for you, a memory.

I just wanna tell you "I love you, I'm safe

Like a child I can sit in the corner
           F C G
with these pills I can barely get by
     C G Am

- Intro: Fm

- Verse 1:

F#m
I'll see you on the outside

Where did I go wrong?
              F#
I should have told you from the start
         D# G#m F#
That I'm closer than you think when we're apart
E Em
Nothing that I've tried is as simple as this line

- Chorus:

        B G#m
Without you my live is incomplete
            F# E
My days are absolutely gray
         B
And so I try
                  G#m F#
to let your heart know for sure that I have so much more
            E F# G#m
To tell you every single day

- Post-Chorus: G#m E B F#

- Verse 2:

G#m E B
I swear I'm giving up my inside to the one
       F#
That I adore
G#m E B
I know this world is big enough for you and I
                  D#
But I'll give you more

- Pre-Chorus:

                  E
I'm coming home today
            F#
To wipe the tear drops from your eyes
    D# G#m F#
I'm totally enamored by your life
E Em
Nothing that I've done has ever been for one

- Chorus:

        B G#m
Without you my live is incomplete
            F# E
My days are absolutely gray
         B
And so I try
                  G#m F#
to let your heart know for sure that I have so much more
            E F# B
To tell you every single day

Chorus :
           G#m
My life is incomplete
              F# E
My rights are absolutely wrong
           B
So wake me up
           G#m F#
Before you leave today something I need to say
                     E F# B
"Cause there will be nothing when you're gone"
