The Eternal Shore Part 1 by Ragon Linde The Eternal Shore Part 1 [Intro] C [Verse] C G She lived in a small house by the shore. Dm Am I was in love. I was in love. C G I came to visit her. We walked along the shore, listening to the Dm Am waves. Sometimes we talked, C G sometimes we didn't need to talk. We took turns cooking, and at Dm Am night, when we fell asleep, our future was bright C G Dm and our dreams were intertwined and promised a life of happiness Am and understanding. Em Am There were times when we went for a drive. Em Fmaj7 Her dog loved to come along. Em Am We would disembark in one of the nearby parks. C The sun, G the rain, Dm the green grass, Am the falling leaves Fmaj7 all of these things welcomed us. Cmaj7 The world was a stage built just for the two of us. Fmaj7 We knew we were safe. Cmaj7 And nothing could hurt us. E F G I remember the hours we spent by the fire. Watching the flames, with their Am Dm eternal life of motion, their ability to improvise a myriad of scenes from the Am Dm Am past and the future. The nights would get quite cold, but we felt protected Fmaj7 Cmaj7 G in the small circle of warmth that we had built for ourselves. G Finally, she invited me to stay. “You don't have to leave,” she said. G “What’s the point? Aren't you happy here with me?” “Yes, I am,” I replied. G I was truly happy. Dm7 G7 Dm7 G7 [Open D drone through this section] Dm7 G7 A few idyllic months followed. But oh, the strange, contradictory Bb Dm way in which we are built! Dm7 G7 Some time passed, and I began to miss the city. Bb Dm I was accustomed to its noises, its never-ending bustling life. Dm7 G7 Sometimes the sound of cars in the distance woke me at night Bb Dm7 and then I realized it was the ocean, that gray foamy giant that kept watching us while we slept. Amaj7 Gmaj7 The ocean was busy making its own long-term plans, Amaj7 Gmaj7 ones that it had thousands of years to fulfill. Fmaj7 Gmaj7 It didn't share its plans. When it talked, it spoke in a different Amaj7 Gmaj7 language. I didn't understand its words.
