Are You Happy Now by Richard Shindell

                           Are You Happy Now

i think this song is actually in the key of F, but i've seen him live
and i believe he uses a capo on the 3rd fret, which would use the chords
D G A Em, but i find it easier to put the capo on the first fret and play it
this way:

capo I
(barre chords where appropriate)

E A E A

   E A
You took the toaster when you went
                              E
You never paid your half the rent
                             A
You took the spices from the rack
                               E
But you don't have to put 'em back
                             B
'Cause in your haste on Halloween
                            F#m
You left your camera on the bed
                                    A
Where we played roles in black and white
                              F#m
You left a roll of black and white
                            B
I set the timer, thought of you
                       F#m
Put the lens up to my head
                        A
I took a photograph for you
                              E
What comes out gray is really red

        B F#m A E
So are you... happy now?
     B F#m A E
Are you..... happy now?
      B F#m A E B F#m
Are you.... happy now?

E A
I smashed your pumpkin on the floor
                            E
The candle flickered at my feet
                           A
As goblins flew across the moon
                              E
The children peered into the room
                          B
A cowboy shivered on the porch
                           F#m
And Cinderella checked her watch
                     A
A hobo waited in the street
                            F#m
An angel whispered trick or treat
                        B
What was I supposed to do
                        F#m
But to sit there in the dark
                             A
I was amazed to think that you
                               E
Would take the candy with you too

        B F#m A E
So are you... happy now?
     B F#m A E
Are you..... happy now?
      B F#m A E B F#m
Are you.... happy now?

E A
I've sat all night, and now it's dawn
                         E
And I cannot believe my eyes
                                  A
There's garbage strewn across the lawn
                                E
Where we once stared up at the sky
                               B
And streams of paper fill the tree
                          F#m
That hovered over you and me
                              A
And shaving cream covers the car
                          F#m
That we picked up in Baltimore
                                B
And though I know it's hard to tell
                                        F#m
I hope that what's-his-name treats you )well
                             A
I still maintain that he's a bum
                                E
But it's your money, have some fun

 B F#m A E
So are you... happy now?
     B F#m A E
Are you..... happy now?
      B F#m A E B
Are you.... happy now?

F#m B
You always asked why I had not
                       F#m
Written you a verse or two
                             A
Since that's the one thing I regret
                        E
I dedicate this one to you

B F#m A E
So are you... happy now?
     B F#m A E
Are you..... happy now?
      B F#m A E B F#m E
Are you......... ?
