I welcome any questions, comments or corrections: email me at wetzil@hotmail.com. I just play the chords in the first position: the F#m is 244222 and the C#m is x46654. You have to put a capo on the first fret to p lay with the record, but otherwise the song is very straightforward. ---------------- version 2 Capo 1 (or tune up half a step) Chord Shapes: ------------- EADGBE EADGBE EADGBE EADGBE EADGBE 244222 xx4454 xx0232 x0222x 02203x F#m E/F# D A Em7 EADGBE EADGBE EADGBE EADGBE EADGBE 2x023x 3x000x x57565 355433 x2424x D/F# G Dm7 G B7 EADGBE EADGBE EADGBE EADGBE EADGBE 3x443x 022100 x46654 x4222x xx3210 Gmaj7 E C#m A/C# Fmaj7 Verse 1: --------- F#m E/F# D A Em7 I hear you are singing a song of the past; I see no tears F#m E/F# D A Em7 D/F# I know that you know that it may be the last for many years G A D A G You'd gamble or give anything to be in with the better half G A D A G But how many friends must I have to begin with to make you laugh Dm7 G Dm7 G Fmaj7 Chorus: ------- A B7 Will you still have a song to sing when Gmaj7 F#m E F#m The razor boy comes and takes your fancy things away? For the interlude (before the chorus) I think Dm7 sounds good, but a straight Dm is fine too. Also, a lot of the G and A chords can be played as Gadd9 and Aadd9 chords, to vary the sound a little. For example, try playing x0242x instead of x0222x once in a while. (On the original, the piano plays mostly Aadd9 and Gadd9, instead of plain A and G). --------------
