Fade Away by Scott Miller Fade Away Again, there are lots of little "Scottisms" (hammers/pulls/walks) throughout this one, I don't know how to indicate, but if you listen to the recording, they're easy to pick up The Cm and Cm7 are played as bar chords on the third fret. The C is just a traditional position C. I don't have a way to note the Cm7 except to describe what Scott does. Pick up your 4th (pinky) finger from the Cm and place it on the high E string on the 6th This simply duplicates the F note (one octave up) from the 3rd string of the Cm7 Does that even make sense? I've also seen/heard Scott play this with a capo on the fret, but I can't sing it that high, so I keep it where he recorded it I've also seen him do it on a 12 string Intro: (x2) G - D - Em - C - G - D Em - C (walk down to G) G D Em C G D You had to go, I knew the day was comin’ for some time G D Em C G D You’re leavin’ slow, the hardest part is watchin’ you slip by G D Em Feel you fading away C G D and with your heart goes a part of mine G B7 Em Feel you fading away C and if I could see you one more day Cm It’d be the one before you changed, Cm7 (this is the weird Cm7) see you later too goodbye G D Em C G D Your eyes are mine, your fingers fit my hands G D Em C G D It makes me cry to think that I will not hold them again G D Em Feel you fading away C G D and with your heart goes a part of mine G B7 Em Feel you fading away C and if I could see you one more day Cm It’d be the one before you changed, Cm7 (this is the weird Cm7) see you later too goodbye Em A Em My heart sings out of tune to yours in time Em A But, that song it sings will have to change D Without a beat to stand behind (Play chords from verse again x2) G D Em C G D Holly, goodbye, you know that I can take care of myself G D Em C D There will be times, I think how nice it’d be to have your help G D Em Feel you fading away C G D and with your heart goes a part of mine G B7 Em Feel you fading away C and if I could see you one more day Cm It’d be the one before you changed, Cm7 (this is the weird Cm7) see you later too goodbye I've heard Scott do the last line X3 with the Cm7 then go back to one more round of the from the first line then end on the G. -----------
